After the expiration of the government's building freeze in two months, Israel should allow continued building in Judea and Samara in areas that will almost certainly be eventually incorporated into Israel after future negotiations are concluded with the Palestinians, Deputy Prime Minister Dan Meridor told Army Radio on Tuesday."It is not right to build in areas that will go to Palestinians [after negotiations are completed], but it is right to continue building in areas that will belong to Israel, such as Ma'aleh Adumim and Gush Etzion," said Meridor.RELATED:Exclusive: Nobody wants a South Africa hereErekat: Building complicates talksMeridor stressed that his remarks were his own personal opinion and not the official stance of the Netanyahu government.Danny Dayan, chairman of the Yesha Council, called Meridor's idea to continue building in only limited parts of Judea and Samaria a dangerous move that would harm Israel's negotiating position with the Palestinians, Army Radio reported Tuesday."This is a dangerous position to take in negotiations. What incentive does this give to Palestinians for negotiations, to even come to the negotiating table," said Dayan.Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas and chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat have both declared that Israel's continued building in east Jerusalem and other regions would strain efforts to conduct direct peace talks.
