The Ministry of Immigrant Absorption is launching an interactive television channel to help new and future immigrants learn Hebrew. At a press conference Tuesday, the ministry signed a contract with a company called Effective X, which won the bidding to produce the new television channel that will air on Hot and Yes-1. The initial investment is NIS 3 million. Each company will have a new interactive channel where families can learn Hebrew at their own pace. The channel will have different topics regularly posted to assist people with everyday activities, such as going to the bank. "The channel is the pinnacle of the program the ministry has led to strengthen [immigrants' knowledge of] the Hebrew language," said Ze'ev Boim, Minister of Immigrant Absorption. "It's a 180 degree change in the known method of teaching Hebrew." The new channels will start airing in October.
