MK Herzog overtakes Paz-Pines in Labor balloting

With returns in from 107 polling booths, constituting about a third of the overall Labor votes, MK Isaac "Bougie" Herzog overtook MK Ophir Paz-Pines in the race for the number two position behind Party Chairman Amir Peretz. As of 4 a.m., a mere 490 votes separated the two front-runners. Following Paz-Pines was Ben Gurion University President Avishay Braverman, MK Yuli Tamir, and former Jerusalem police chief Ami Ayalon. Benyamin Ben Eliezer, who had been projected to win one of the top five slots behind Party Chairman Amir Peretz, was in sixth place, behind Matan Vilnai. An hour earlier, he had languished two places behind, in eighth place.
