MK Steinitz: US position on Iran 'bothersome'

MK Yuval Steinitz (Likud) on Wednesday morning called Washington's position on the Iranian nuclear issue "bothersome." Responding to comments made Tuesday by US Defense Secretary-designate Robert Gates that an Iranian attack on Israel was a possibility, Steinitz told Army Radio, "The United States is capable of attacking Teheran's nuclear sites in a preemptive strike, and if it work toward a solution to the Iranian nuclear crisis, it is misusing its position." He added, "The formal stance hasn't changed. The tone is different and worrisome, as far as the United States' readiness to fulfill the duty of the free world against the especially great threat to Israel, the Middle East and the whole world."
