MK Yuval Steinitz: Olmert is taking Israel back to 'Auschwitz' borders

MK Yuval Steinitz (Likud) on Tuesday said Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's readiness to divide Jerusalem and to take Israel back to 'Auschwitz' borders threatened Israel's security and its ability to survive, Israel Radio reported. Steinitz was responding to Israeli proposals made during a meeting between Israeli and Palestinian delegations in Jerusalem Tuesday, ahead of private talks between Olmert Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. Among the proposals made by the team was an offer to share control of the Temple Mount between the three major religions (Judaism, Islam and Christianity) and to cede control of the Arab neighborhoods of east Jerusalem to the PA. The policing of major West Bank towns Ramallah, Jenin and Nablus would also be given to the Palestinians, according to the proposal.
