The resignation of President Moshe Katsav officially took effect Sunday morning, after allegations of rape and sexual harassment led the State Attorney's office to declare that they were going to charge him with rape.
Meanwhile, the High Court of Justice began proceedings Sunday to address a petition which called for the invalidation of a plea bargain struck between Katsav and the State Attorney.
