Nearly 400,000 benefit from Yad Sarah's work

Yad Sarah's 6,000 volunteers lent out 244,000 pieces of medical and rehabilitation equipment in 2006, with 380,000 Israelis benefiting. This was an increase of eight percent over the previous years. The voluntary organization spent NIS 70 million for its activities in 102 branches, 96% of it from donations and only 4% from government and municipal aid. The organization, founded by Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupolianski, marked its 30th anniversary this year and saved the public coffers more than $300 million by keeping the people it helped out of hospitals.
