New bill proposes to forbid media from using suspects' names

The Knesset's Legislative Ministerial Committee approved a new bill, proposing to forbid the media from publishing names of suspects who are yet to be charged. Additionally, the bill suggests that any details from a criminal investigation being conducted against a suspect will not be made public until an indictment. At present, the law allows the media to publish investigation findings, the name, details and picture of a suspect from the moment he or she is brought for remand extension.
