Citizens needing the service of the National Insurance Institute were greeted by closed doors Monday, but could receive service by telephone.
Employees were protesting the managerial decision to remove policemen who served as guards in NII branches.
The Histadrut claims that during the last year police has been financing the policemen who were guarding the institute's branches, despite a collective agreement from 1996 according to which the management of the NII is responsible for paying the policemen's wages.
Employees reopened seven branches around Monday noon after the management acquiesced to their demand and sent the policemen-guards, in Jerusalem, Haifa, Beersheba, Ashkelon, Acre and Naharia.
