Northern residents ordered into bomb shelters

Following an afternoon of heavy Hizbullah barrages along the eastern section of the Israel-Lebanon border and at least one infiltration attempt and ensuing gun battle between IDF forces and Hizbullah terrorists, residents of the Galilee panhandle and the Hula Valley were ordered into bomb shelters for the first time in years. Residents of kibbutzim along the border had been ordered into shelters an hour earlier, and this latest announcement followed reports that mortars hit the northern Galilee city of Kiryat Shmona and Metulla. Until that point, the barrages had been confined to the more sparsely populated sector of Mount Dov, to the east of the city.
