Northern towns protest IDF troop withdrawal

The Forum of Border Communities on the northern border announced on Friday that it would dismantle the readiness squads in seven communities at the start of next week. The statement was made in protest of the IDF's decision to replace troops defending the communities with civilian security teams. Forum chairman Eitan Davidi told Israel Radio that the IDF was abandoning the community's residents, and that as a result, he had decided to halt the activities of the readiness squads in Margaliyot, Dovev, Avivim, Zar'it, Shtula, Netua and Kfar Yuval. The Forum urged the IDF to reconsider its decision.
