Prime Minister Ehud Olmert met with Finance Minister Avraham Hirschson Sunday morning to discuss a Defense Ministry request for a NIS 30 billion increase in the defense budget.
The Defense Ministry requested that the budget increase be applied over 2006 and 2007 in order to finance war expenditures and meet other defense needs.
Finance Ministry officials said there was no need for and no possibility of a budget increase, Israel Radio reported.
