Olmert: We'll reduce road deaths by 6%

"The government of Israel and state officials combating deaths on the roads have set an achievable goal - to reduce the number of road deaths by six percent each year," Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Wednesday night during an Or Yarok (green light) conference, commemorating a decade of road safety activity by the nonprofit association. Regarding the high number of deaths on the roads recorded since Israel's establishment, Olmert said: "It is a very painful statistic, it is an unacceptable amount," adding that there has never been a government that has not invested massively in the battle against road deaths.
