Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's chief of staff, Yoram Turbowicz, told the Winograd Committee that "Before the war, after Gilad Schalit was kidnapped in the southern front, Olmert urged the army to make sure such things don't happen in the north." Turbowicz also said it had been clear to everyone in the PMO that Israel's is heading towards a wide-scale military operation in Lebanon right after reservists Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev were kidnapped.
