In what is becoming a quiet phenomenon, a Palestinian attempted to stab soldiers at a roadblock in the West Bank. Soldiers tackled the attacker without harm. The incident began after soldiers set up a surprise roadblock near Halhul, north of Hebron. Soldiers examined a Palestinian man who came to the roadblock who subsequently continued on his way. But the man returned shortly later and raised the suspicions of the soldiers when he started running toward them. He then pulled out an 11-centemeter knife. Soldiers called on him to halt and threatened to shoot. But instead of opening fire they tackled the assailant, who was transferred to security forces for questioning, the army said. This was the eighth attempted stabbing at IDF roadblocks in the West Bank in the past two weeks. Also Thursday, gunmen opened fire at an IDF force near the West Bank village of Anabta east of Tulkarum. There were no injuries or damage reported.
