Palestinian shot, critically wounded near Nablus

A Palestinian man was critically wounded after he was shot by police near a checkpoint close to Nablus on Wednesday. The man tried to run away from police and IDF soldiers, who were checking cars at the roadblock in the Beit Furik area in an attempt to locate stolen vehicles. After the man ignored calls to halt as he drove past, a policewoman fired at his car. The policewoman was unhurt in the incident. Palestinian witnesses said that the police and soldiers prevented anyone from giving the wounded man medical attention until a Palestinian ambulance arrived some time later to take the man to the hospital.
