A Palestinian was seriously wounded Thursday after he tried to stab a soldier near the Tekoa checkpoint, east of Bethlehem.
Israel Radio reported that the soldier fired into the air when he was approached by the armed Palestinian and another soldier then beat the attacker with his gun.
There were no casualties among the IDF soldiers.
