IDF troops seriously wounded an 8-year-old Palestinian boy during a military operation early Tuesday, Palestinian hospital officials said.
The IDF said troops operating in the area encountered rioters throwing rocks and fired rubber-coated bullets in response.
The Palestinian officials said soldiers fired rubber bullets at a group of schoolchildren who were throwing rocks at them. The boy, Marwan Aklik, was hit in the head by a rubber bullet, the officials said.
Residents said a Hamas militant was arrested by the troops.
The IDF was investigating the report of the wounded boy.
