Palestinians say peace talks set for Washington, leaders meeting next week

A Palestinian negotiator said Thursday that trilateral peace talks are set for Washington this month. The negotiator, Saeb Erekat, told The Associated Press that Israeli and Palestinian negotiators will meet there with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Erekat, who is in Washington, said chief Palestinian negotiator Ahmed Qureia and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni would meet Rice on July 30. Foreign Ministry spokesman Arye Mekel said he did not know about plans for talks. Erekat also said Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will meet next week. Olmert's office was not available for comment.
