Palestinian villagers complained Monday that Jewish settlers cut down dozens of olive trees belonging to residents of a small village near the West City bank city of Nablus.
The villagers said that the settlers used chain saws in the middle of the night to cut down about 150 olive trees on the edge of the village of Bourin.
Judea and Samaria Police are investigating, said police spokesman Shlomi Sagi. He said about 30 trees were damaged but not uprooted.
Settlers say the Palestinians use the olive groves as cover for attacks, but Palestinians say the settlers are trying to drive them off the land by destroying their crops.
