Peres may 'take a break' from the Labor Party

Outgoing Labor Party chairman Shimon Peres considered taking a break from his party Thursday evening, at least for a few days. Earlier in the day the new Labor Party chairman, Amir Peretz invited his predecessor to stay as a welcomed member of the party. Still, Peres stated, according to Channel 2, that he does not intend to be in second place behind the new party chairman, Amir Peretz. Shimon Peres did not intend on attending the faction meeting on Friday morning. Wednesday's loss constituted the latest in a long list of defeats that the 82-year-old statesman has endured since the beginning of his 60-year career.
