Petah Tikva: Families return to singed building

Nineteen of the 40 families evacuated from the Petah Tikva building that burst into flames on Thursday have returned to their homes. The Petah Tikva municipality put up some 20 other residents, mostly immigrants with no family in Israel, in a Tel Aviv hostel for the weekend. Investigators photographed the burnt apartments and took testimonies from the residents. Firefighters have estimated that a short in an air-conditioning unit in one of the lower floors of the building caused the blaze, which then spread through the building's corridors.
