PM aides slam Mofaz's call for state commission

Sources close to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert leveled harsh criticism at Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz on Monday after Mofaz announced his support on Sunday for a state commission of inquiry into the war in Lebanon. "Mofaz will be number one on the list of those investigated if such a commission is set up," members of Olmert's inner circle said. "The man doesn't understand anything about politics, and he will be the first to go if government portfolios are distributed again." Mofaz said Sunday that his call for a state commission was intended to restore public faith in the government. "It's impossible and unnecessary to wait any longer," he said. "A state inquiry commission must be set up to look into the events of the war."
