PM meets with key Obama backer New Mexico governor Bill Richardson

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has met with New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, who is a former diplomat and presidential candidate. A statement from Olmert's office said that in their Sunday meeting, they discussed Israeli-Palestinian and Israeli-Syrian peace efforts. Also, they talked about increasing cooperation between Israel and New Mexico. Richardson was a candidate for the Democratic nomination for US President. After he dropped out of the race, he endorsed Sen. Barack Obama in April. Richardson's support was seen as a key element in Obama's eventual victory over Sen. Hillary Clinton.
