'PM's offer to survivors is salt in their eyes'

"Scorn for the poor and salt in their eyes of Holocaust survivors," Colette Avital said of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's decision on giving additional monetary aid to survivors, Israel Radio reported Monday. Avital, a Labor MK and chairman of the caucus for Holocaust survivors in the Knesset, asked "how is the prime minister going to solve the problems of 120 thousand survivors, when the sum proposed for 2008 is only NIS 130 million? Are NIS 1000 per person per year an addition that can solve the hardship, hunger, need for medicine and medical care?"
