Police chief: Personal attacks on Franco unfair

Israel Police Chief Insp.-Gen. David Cohen said Tuesday that Jerusalem Police Chief Cmdr. Ilan Franco was unfairly criticized following the violent incident at Teddy Stadium on Sunday night. "Two days ago, we witnessed violence and rioting on the soccer field in Jerusalem. In light of these incidents, we are witnessing a personal attack on an accomplished officer, who has been dealing for years with a complex and difficult city," Cohen said. Over 30 people were injured in Sunday's violence after the Betar Jerusalem soccer game, with two fans still hospitalized with serious injuries.
