Police gun down known criminal in Ashdod car chase

Police shot dead a known criminal in Ashdod early Tuesday morning.
The man had kidnapped a policewoman in Ashdod and was holding her captive in a police car which he had stolen.
Police said that the man broke into an apartment in the city and when he saw police approaching, he managed to slip away and steal the car.
A chase then ensued on Route 40, between Lod and Ben Gurion Airport.
Police exchanged fire with the man and a police officer was wounded before the criminal was shot and killed.
