Police kill gunman in Kafr Kassem restaurant shooting

In other gangland violence, man dies after Western Galilee drive-by.

A masked gunman was shot dead by police in a restaurant in the heart of Kafr Kassem on Sunday night.
Police said that four Rosh Ha'ayin detectives were on an undercover operation when they saw the attacker - later identified as 29-year-old Jarrah Sarsur - run into the restaurant. The detectives followed Sarsur into the eatery, but he managed to shoot one of the customers in the legs, lightly wounding him.
According to police, when the detectives shouted at Sarsur to stop, he aimed his gun at them, at which point the detectives shot the attacker, critically wounding him.
Sarsur, who police say was a known criminal, died of his wounds at Petah Tikva’s Beilinson Hospital.
Also Sunday night, a man in his 30s was killed in a drive-by shooting in the Western Galilee.
Theman was sitting in his car in the village of Arabe when he was hitmultiple times in his upper body. He died in an ambulance on the way toNahariya’s Western Galilee Hospital.
Police assess the shooting was part of a gangland feud.
Roadblocks were set up in an effort to catch the assailants.
