Police raises alert level to its highest

Police raised the level of alert to its highest - "Emergency Level"- on Friday and Insp.-Gen. Moshe Karadi ordered a general mobilization in all departments of Israel Police. Thousands of policemen were posted in heavily populated areas across the country and border policemen were set to increase their activity in areas close to the Green Line. Security services received more than 80 terror-attack warnings. Most of them were of a general nature but approximately one quarter of them were more specific. 3,000 policemen were set to man the Gay Pride event in Jerusalem's Givat Ram University campus, and a further 2,500 policemen were due to be deployed in east Jerusalem, the Old City and around the Temple Mount out of concern that Palestinians were planning to riot following the IDF's deadly artillery shelling in Beit Hanun on Wednesday.
