Police recommend charging MK Katz with fraud

Police recommended Thursday that Likud MK Yisrael Katz be indicted for fraud and breach of trust. The National Fraud Squad's investigation into Katz and his assistant, Michael Ayalon, examined whether the lawmaker made politically-based appointments to key positions when he headed the Agriculture Ministry. Police also believe Ayalon and other former ministry officials should be charged with forgery under aggravated circumstances, fraud and breach of public trust. Under Katz's ministry, more than a dozen Likud activists and their children were appointed to plum positions.
