Policewoman who was taken hostage by criminal may be dismissed

A policewoman who was kidnapped by a criminal from an Ashdod police station last month, leading police on an inter-city chase, may be laid off, Army Radio reported Sunday.
A police committee which has been examining the incident was expected to submit such a recommendation to Police Insp.-Gen. David Cohen, along with several other disciplinary recommendations on a number of police officers involved in the incident.
The committee found that the policewoman opened the criminal's handcuffs and explained to him how to cock a weapon, after which he took her hostage and fled in a car - before being shot and killed.
