Possible end to university professor strike in sight

Senior Lecturers Union head Prof. Zvi Hacohen proposed to end the professor strike if a mechanism that would compensate lecturers for any future salary erosion would be formulated, Israel Radio reported. Hacohen was speaking at the Knesset's Education Committee Monday afternoon. MK Moshe Gafni (UTJ) drafted a proposal according to Hacohen's suggestions, and both Education Minister Yuli Tamir and Finance Ministry Wage Director Eli Cohen have approved and signed the proposal. The sides were waiting for Hacohen to sign the draft, and if he would agree to do so, the strike would come to an end.
