IDF St.-Sgt. Yariv Amitai, who was killed in a military accident some two months ago when the Hummer jeep he was traveling in overturned on the Gaza border, was not wearing a seat belt and had not undergone proper training on the vehicle, according to findings of an inquiry into the accident released Thursday.
Head of IDF Ground Forces Safety Division, Col. Gvaram Haglili, who conducted the inquiry, said the investigation exposed a string of failures in the conduct of the Hummer team.
The findings of the accident probe are due to be presented to IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi next week.
