Radioactivity detectors set up in Israel's ports

Radioactivity detectors have been installed at the Haifa and Ashdod ports to scan cargo, Israel Radio reported Tuesday. Customs Authority Director Ami Segel said that the detectors had been set up in coordination with the United States, which has asked to increase safeguards on goods imported from Israel following the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center. The Customs Authority also plans to install an X-ray detector in Ben-Gurion Airport to scan passengers suspected of terror activity, money laundering, and drug smuggling.
