Ramon denies luring Labor members to Kadima

Knesset member Haim Ramon has denied making efforts to convince former Labor Party colleagues to join Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's new Kadima party. Labor Knesset member Ophir Pines-Paz, meanwhile, accused Sharon of trying to raid the Labor Party. Speaking Sunday on Israel Radio, Pines-Paz said a number of party members responded to Sharon's overtures, but the majority rejected offers to join Kadima. Pines-Paz added that he did not believe there would be "blacklists" in the upcoming Labor Party primaries to block the advancement of certain members to the Knesset list. He said Amir Peretz was chosen party chairman in a democratic vote, and the outcome must be respected.
