Renowned painter, critic Raffi Lavie dies at 70

Renowned painter and art critic Raffi Lavie died Tuesday evening of cancer. He was 70 years old. Lavie was born in Tel Aviv in 1937 and was crowned as one of the most influential and important figures of the Israeli art world. In addition to being a painter, Lavie taught at the Beit Berl College and was the art and classical music critic for Tel Aviv's Ha'Ir newspaper. He was also the focus of the 2007 documentary film 'Rosh Geranium' by Amit Goren. Lavie contributed his body to Tel Aviv University for research and therefore no funeral will be held.
