Report: Tape could discredit Katsav's accuser

An as-yet-unidentified person offered to sell TV stations a controversial new tape about the life of A., the young woman accusing President Moshe Katsav of inappropriate sexual contact while she was employed at Beit Hanassi, Channel 1 reported Monday night. According to the report, the contents of the tape call A.'s credibility into question, presenting her motives as primarily financial. A.'s lawyer responded to the tape by saying she was sure it would be found to be false upon examination, and added that it was part of an ongoing campaign to discredit her client. The man behind the tape was reportedly known to police. According to Channel 1, he had been charged with money laundering and was expected to stand trial for it in the near future.
