Retired general: 'I was not asked to be in charge of Syrian channel'

Maj. -Gen. [Res.] Uri Sagie denied on Tuesday reports that Defense Minister Ehud Barak had appointed him to head efforts regarding contacts towards future negotiations with Syria, in an interview with Israel Radio. "The reports [published] this morning are baseless … it is no secret that I'm dying to speak my mind on many subjects … but the report itself is most likely a spin," Sagie said. "Nobody has turned to me and asked," he added.
