Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and US Secretary of Sate Condoleezza Rice began a joint press conference in Jerusalem on Saturday evening.
Livni opened the conference insisting that the understandings between Fatah and Hamas regarding a unity government "do not meet Israeli requirements."
Rice reiterated that the United States would not recognize any government that did not renounce violence or recognize Israel's right to exist.
