Right tries to prevent UAL from running

The Likud and the National Union-National Religious Party asked Central Elections Committee chair Dorit Beinish on Thursday to disqualify the United Arab List from running for the Knesset because of comments made by UAL chairman Ibrahim Sarsour about his desire to make Israel an Islamic state. The committee bars parties from running that openly admit to favor destroying Israel. Sarsour denied making the comment and said that he had been misunderstood. Beinish is due to make a decision by March 3. Thursday was the deadline to request that a party be disqualified.
