Right-wing activists detained on road to Nazareth

Police detained 45 people for questioning on Tuesday afternoon near the Arab Israeli town of Umm el-Fahm. Police suspected that the detainees, who were on a bus headed for Nazareth, were right-wing activists who planned to cause provocations in the Arab town. The activists claimed they were election monitors headed for polling stations in the mostly-Arab Galilee town, but none carried the election monitor identification papers. According to media reports, a police identity check showed that their claim was false.
