US Defense Secretary Robert Gates will arrive in Israel next week, Israel Radio reported on Thursday morning.
Gates will meet with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and Defense Minister Amir Peretz.
Gates is the first defense secretary of the George W. Bush administration to visit Israel.
The former defense secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, did not visit the country.
