Ronsky blocked from Cast

MK Tzipi Hotovely's (Likud) roundtable discussion held Monday marking a year since Operation Cast Lead emphasized the IDF's achievements, but was marked by an undercurrent of discontent, with Hotovely raising an eyebrow at the absence of IDF Chief Rabbi Avichai Ronsky. Ronsky, who has generated controversy with public statements he has made in the past, was not permitted by the IDF Spokesman's Office to participate in Hotovely's conference. A number of field commanders from the Armored Corps, Combat Engineers, Paratroopers and IAF were cleared by the office to participate in the program. During the morning conference, held in the Knesset, Hotovely expressed her disappointment that Ronsky was not allowed to participate. She did not say whether the IDF has explained its decision. Hotovely's office later stressed that they had no complaints about the IDF Spokesman's Office's decision, and complimented the high level of cooperation that it had received from the military in planning the conference.
