Safed rabbi backs troops' refusal to evacuate

Safed Chief Rabbi Shumel Eliyahu on Tuesday voiced his support of IDF soldiers' refusal to participate in the evacuation of Hebron settlers from apartments in the marketplace. In an interview with Army Radio, Rabbi Eliyahu, son of former chief rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, said he relied on the halachic decision of Rabbi David Lior, chief rabbi of the settler community. He added that the "wicked and corrupt" High Court of Justice would not decide where or what to evacuate.
