Salah: Gov't is responsible for church attack

In the aftermath of the Friday night incident in Nazareth, leaders of the Arab sector pointed accusatory fingers toward the government, which they claimed was responsible. "We see the Israeli establishment as directly responsible for this incident," said Sheikh Raed Salah, the head of the Islamic Movement's northern faction, said on Sunday morning. On Saturday, the Monitoring Committee of the Israeli Arab Leadership met together with Israeli Arab MKs to discuss the implications of the incident. At the conference, the head of the committee, Shuweiki Hatib, attacked the "establishment", saying that it fosters racism and aggressiveness against Arabs. He also said, however, that the protests held by Nazareth residents were impulsive and were based on the emotional response to the attack on the church.
