Schwarzenegger to visit Israel in Spring 2007

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger welcomed visiting Trade and Labor Minister Eli Yishai to Los Angeles Tuesday, and the two agreed to work towards increased cooperation in the areas of technologies, environmental issues, alternative energy sources, and stem cell research Schwarzenegger said he plans to visit Israel in Spring 2007. The Shas Party chairman was in Los Angeles for a general Israeli fundraising event sponsored by Jewish communities in North America and attended by leading businessmen and senior government officials in the state. In his meetings with Jewish community leaders, Yishai stressed the importance of their continued involvement in social issues inside of Israel, including the war on poverty and financial investment in Israel, with particular emphasis on helping the northern communities affected during the summer's fighting with Hizbullah. At the Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles - a leading medical research facility - Yishai discussed with managers increased cooperation with Israeli researchers in the field of stem cell research. Recently, the center was awarded grants totaling three billion dollars, putting it in a leading player in ground breaking research of stem cells.
