Police and security forces have deployed in greater numbers throughout Israel over the Pessah holiday. They were charged with monitoring city centers, main roads, entertainment and tourism sites that were expected to receive many visitors as families enjoy the long weekend. The Border Police were set to surround the borderline between Israeli and Palestinian territories, including the Jerusalem periphery, in order to enforce the closure that was placed over the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Going into the holiday, security forces knew of 78 planned attacks against Israel, including 16 specific alerts. The security forces include thousands of policemen, Border Police and volunteers from the civil guard, Israel Radio reported. A special emphasis was placed on hotels that hosted the Pessah seder, as the security establishment remembered the tragic suicide bombing that took place in the Park Hotel in Netanya on Pessah of 2002, in which 29 Israelis were killed and 159 wounded.
