A senior US official said Tuesday that Israel must greatly reduce its attacks in the Gaza Strip and release Hamas ministers and parliamentarians unless there was concrete proof of their wrongdoing.
The offical said that the US supported the meeting between Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and his Lebanese counterpart Faud Saniora.
Israel Radio reported that he added that Washington understood the need for IAF sorties over Lebanon for intelligence gathering, however, he warned that too many forays could cause Hizbullah to violate the UN resolution.
