Sentence upheld for cop who stabbed foreign worker

The High Court of Justice rejected on Monday the appeal of Tal Dinar, a member of the Immigration Police, who severely injured a foreign worker from China. The Tel Aviv District Court convicted Dinar of causing a serious injury and sentenced him to 15 months in prison. He was also ordered to pay the worker NIS 10,000 in compensation, Army Radio reported. The incident occurred when Dinar attempted to arrest a group of Chinese foreign workers who were living in Tel Aviv.The police officer took one of the worker's passports, and when the man attempted to reclaim it, Dinar drew a knife from his belt and stabbed him.
