Soccer players to raise funds for diabetes

Meanwhile, the Israel Association for Autistic Children is raising funds to help the one out of 100 children born with this disorder.

Two health charities that help those with juvenile (type 1) diabetes and autism will hold fundraising campaigns on Monday.  At the big Maccabi Petah Tikva vs Maccabi Haifa game, all the players will wear t-shirts with the number 12, representing the average number of times daily an insulin-dependent diabetic must use a needle for testing blood sugar and giving himself insulin. The audience in the stadium will be invited to donate to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, which helps patients. Donations can also be given by sending a message “10” to telephone number 1222 by SMS to contribute NIS 10 to the cause.
Meanwhile, ALUT, the Israel Association for Autistic Children, israising funds to help the one out of 100 children born with thisdevelopmental and communications disorder. The number of diagnosedchildren is rising, according to the organization, which promotesresearch into the disease and provides special help to families.
Donations can be handed to any of thousands of schoolchildren who arecollecting for ALUT and at shops displaying its sign or by sending anSMS marked “10” to telephone number 5333 to make an NIS 10 donation.
